Tiered Rankings turns any thread into a tier board. The thread starter lists the items to rank, such as players, teams, movies, video games or anything else worth arguing about. A board appears under the first post with the classic S, A, B, C, D, E and F tiers, plus an Unranked row where every item starts. Items can be plain text, or given a short description and an image, either uploaded or linked. That makes the board as visual as the tier lists members already know from around the web.
Ranking is quick and works everywhere. On a desktop, members drag items into tiers. On a phone or tablet, they press and hold to drag, or tap an item and then tap a tier. Keyboard users can focus an item and press S, A, B, C, D, E, F or U. Every change saves automatically, so there's no Save button to forget, and a member can come back and change their mind at any time.
The Community ranking tab is where the debate settles. Each item is scored from S (7 points) down to F (1 point) by everyone who ranked it, then placed in the tier nearest its average. The result is a live consensus board that updates as more members weigh in. Each member's own board stays theirs, and the Community ranking shows where the forum as a whole stands.
Setting one up is part of posting a thread. The Tiered Rankings fields appear right on the Post thread form, and items can be added or edited later. In the Admin CP you choose:
- which forums allow Tiered Rankings
- whether thread starters can create them, or only staff
- the maximum number of items
- tile and image sizes, and the image upload limit
- Uploaded images are cropped to neat, uniform squares.
