Not every member has the perfect profile picture ready, and on a sports forum most of them would rather
wear their team's colors anyway. Avatar Gallery gives them a shop window of ready-made avatars to choose
from in one click.
You build the gallery in the Admin CP, organized into categories such as NFL Teams, Retro Logos or
Holiday Specials. Any category can be limited to certain user groups (a VIP collection), or unlocked
once a member reaches a number of messages or a reaction score, giving members something to earn.
Locked categories can stay visible with the reason shown, as a teaser.
Filling the gallery is quick:
- upload a ZIP of up to 500 images, and titles come from the file names;
- add up to ten files at once, or paste image links;
- import from ESPN, which brings in team logos from 17 leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college, major
soccer leagues) or current player headshots for any team.
Every image is cropped square automatically.
Members browse by category, search, sort by featured, most popular, newest or name, save favorites, and
preview an avatar before applying it. Undecided members can press "Surprise me". Each avatar shows how
many members have chosen it, and a cooldown option stops rapid switching. New members can even be given
a random gallery avatar when they register, so nobody is stuck with a blank letter.
A sidebar widget shows off random, popular, newest or featured avatars and invites members into the
gallery.
